Jay-Z Rhapsody Advert

This is one of the most creative and original adverts I’ve ever seen.

Hov keeps the classic album covers up front and the not so great album covers near the end, with the exception of American Gangster which he finishes with.

This would have been even better if the covers had been in chronological order but still.

Raekwon – House Of Flying Daggers Video HD

I know I posted this yesterday but Raekwon just uploaded the HD version to his YouTube account so you already know what I had to do.

This video looked amazing in standard def and even better in high def.

Go buy Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, I know I will be.

Raekwon – House Of Flying Daggers Video

I waited 2 hours for this video to drop and it was definitely worth the wait.

I’ve always wanted a Wu-Tang video to be like this, the song matches the video and the visuals are superb, this is the best video of the year so far.

Raekwon feat. Ghostface & Cappadonna – 10 Bricks(Prod. J Dilla)

Raekwon-Only_Built_4_Cuban_Linx_2

Another leak from The Chefs new album, not quite as good as House Of Flying Daggers but Rae never disappoints(except when Cappadonna starts rhyming LOL).

Jay-Z feat. Drake – Off That

Last time I posted a download link for a Jay-Z track the RIAA filed a copyright claim against my blog, so what I did instead is upload the track to YouTube and post it here instead.

Anyway, this is crap, Timbaland’s adlibs clutter up the terrible beat, Jay-Z’s flow is horrible and Drake only raps the verses, I expected a lot more from Jay and Drake and I’m not a fan of Timbaland(mainly because of the awful adlibs).

Not good Jay, not good at all.

2 Turntables & A Microphone Trailer

This looks interesting.

A documentary/movie examining the mysterious death around one of Hip Hop’s pioneers, Jam Master Jay of Run DMC.

This is the way I like to see peoples stories told, from real people who were close to them and not by scriptwriters in a board room.

Jay-Z – Run This Town feat. Rihanna & KanYe West(Video)

The Hip Hop blogging community were on a blogging arms race to get this video posted the earliest and MTV Germany beat them all to it by dropping it before they were supposed to, HA!!!!!

Anyway I love this video, it matches the tone of the song perfectly, shame the song isn’t all that, Brooklyn Go Hard would have been a better first single.

DJ Hero Preview & Footage

The more I see of this game, the more I want it.

Here’s more footage of what I’m going to spend around £150 on…err….I mean DJ Hero and a little preview of how the controller works in-game

Affion Crockett – Best I Ever Had Spoof

Affion Crockett kills this. LOL at the coloured in hairline.

Mickey Factz Freestyle @ Semtex’s

Mickey kicks an actual freestyle off the top of the dome on Semtex’s show, no prewritten bars or rhyming off a blackberry, an actual freestyle with original lyrics. Not many can do that now can they.

Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow(Action Man:The Movie Remix)

So I went to see GI Joe today, that movie was so very terrible I’m not even going to dignify it with a review. The only redeeming quality was the great remix of The Peas’ Boom Boom Pow that served as the ending theme.

Slaughterhouse Interview w/ Semtex @ Rock The Bells.

I’m sooooo jealous of Semtex, I’ve always wanted to go to Rock The Bells since it started.

The Hip Hop supergroup Slaughterhouse sit down with Sem and talk about everything except that situation.

This Is 50 Interview w/ DMC

The legendary DMC sits down with This Is 50 and drops a couple of freestyles.

If you don’t know who DMC is, turn off your computer, go to the nearest bridge and kill yo’ self.

Joe Budden Vs. Raekwon Summary

I don’t even know where to start on this one.

I’ve refrained from posting anything to do with this “beef” as I don’t actually care about beef in the Hip Hop world anymore, The Game’s numerous unnecessary beefs just made the whole thing boring.

Anyway this video sums up the entire situation for those of you that give a crap, I do not. I only watched this video because Jay Smooth makes funny, interesting vlogs about stuff like this.

You can check out more of Jay Smooths vlogs here or subscribe to his video podcast on iTunes.

Surrogates – Official Trailer

This looks dope.

I don’t know much about this movie other than I really, really want to see it.

Out September 25th.

Nike SB Advert Featuring Paul Rodriguez, Eric Koston, Kobe Bryant & Ice Cube(Extended Version)

I love this advert!

Watching this makes me wish it was 1993 and I live in LA. Sadly it’s 2009 and I’m living in the UK, oh well, I can still play San Andreas and pretend I’m in LA in the mid-nineties.

Nike did a really good job on this video, it’s so relaxing to watch and well shot and directed. Nike have a history of making great advertising and this is one of the adverts Nike would be proud to call theirs.

Check out some other classic Nike commercials.

The last one makes me extremely jealous, I could practice and practice and not do half of what these guys do.

The Clipse feat. Pharrel – I’m Good(Video)

This song dropped ayyyges ago but finally the video has been released. To be honest I’m not really feeling this one, the beat doesn’t match the Clipse’s usual raw and rugged style. Kinda Like A Big Deal was a far superior song and video, speaking of which I’ve posted the official video below for you to enjoy. Till The Casket Drops out in October.

Spotted over at Semtex’s.

Day 1 – War Song

As a general rule, Hip Hop movies suck.

Well that’s a little harsh, Hip Hop movies suck compared to Wildstyle, the original and best Hip Hop movie.

This looks good though, the UK has never made a Hip Hop movie before though so this may turn out just like Kidulthood but with rapping in. This is a small clip of the upcoming Hip Hop movie; Day 1, set in and featuring Birmingham MC’s. I shall be keeping close eye on where this movie is going and post the official trailer when it drops.

Trailer: ONG BAK 2

The Original ONG BAK had a whole load of controversy surrounding it a few years when some kid shot up Virginia Tech University and apparently he was obsessed with it. Whatever. As a general rule, Kung Fu movies are dope, no ifs, no buts, all Kung Fu movies are dope. This looks to carry on that legacy.

Kano – Rock N Roller(Radio Rip)

I like Kano, I do not however like autotune and that's all I’m going to say on this one.

Anyway this track is available to download but it is a dodgy radio rip, instead of posting a download link I made the audio into a video file and uploaded it to youtube. Let me know what you think on this one.

Chamillionaire – Mixtape Messiah 7

20090804-cham1

Koopa released Mixtape Messiah 7 Disk 1 yesterday but I decided I wasn’t going to post both disks seperately and just waited till both were released. Well here they are, this is Chamillionaire’s first free online mixtape, disk 1 sounds pretty good. Chamillionaire is nice on the mic, he’s probably one of the best MC’s to come out of the south in a few years and that definitely shows with this mixtape.

I’ve taken the 2 mixtape disks and consolidated them into 1 easy to download mixtape. Enjoy!

What you lot saying on this one?

DJ Grandmaster Flash - Where Hip Hip is From...Where I'm From - Part 1

If you don’t know who this man is, turn off your PC, go to the nearest bridge and kill yo’self.

The legendary DJ, Hip Hop icon and my idol shows you round the street he grew up in. I’m definitely posting all these videos.

Nipsey Hu$$le – Bullets Ain’t Got No Names Vol. 3(Mixtape)

bullets3_front

This mixtape was released as a download on iTunes but it seems someone saw sense and allowed people to download it for free. Paying for a mixtape in this day and age is crazy, the mixtape game has changed from what it was a few years ago. It’s just not possible to charge for a mixtape anymore, not when you can get 15 Charles Hamilton mixtapes for free. Curren$y tried to charge for his “This Ain’t No Mixtape” album/mixtape and precisely 9 people bought it. Anyway, mixtape rant over(or maybe not, I might make a post dedicated to the changing mixtape game).

Now to the matter at hand.

I’m a fan of Nipsey, he makes very good music. Gangster rap may be played out now but he seems to be bringing it back(come on, he made a Kriss Kross sample sound thug LOL). I haven’t had a chance to listen to the mixtape yet but I definitely will be listening to it later.

At The Movies With Gooderz – The Taking Of Pelham 123

the_taking_of_pelham_123_02

So I went to see The Taking Of Pelham 123 today. Good film, one of my favourite actors; Denzel Washinton plays the lead role and co-stars along side John Travolta playing a regular guy caught in an irregular situation. John Travolta’s character takes a New York subway car full of people hostage and wants 10 million dollars for the peoples safe return. Overall its a great film, Denzel and John have great on screen chemistry(even though they don't actually have a scene together until the final few scenes), they’re both excellent actors doing what they do best. The entire film is shown in real time, a technique rarely used but when it is used it works very well.

This is a great movie, great acting and a gripping story. Theres no spectacular special effects, no crazy plot twist, like I said earlier; just a regular guy caught in an irregular situation. This is a must see and probably one of the best films of the year.

New documentary by Chris Rock, this looks very good indeed.

Blueprint 3 Artwork & Tracklisting

Jay-Z_blueprint3_cover

This artwork looks nice!!!! A bit 808’s inspired to me you know, minimal colour in the background and striking colour in the foreground.

02. D.O.A. (Produced by No I.D.)

13. Thank You (Produced by No I.D.)

14. Sound Of The 70s (Produced by Kanye West)[Bonus]

15. We Made History (Produced by Kanye West)[Bonus]

Couple of things missing from that, namely my two favourite Jay-Z tracks of last year; Brooklyn Go Hard and Jockin’ Jay-Z. Hmm, I guess they didn’t fit in with the theme of the album but both of them tracks are better that Run This Town and they aren’t even bonus cuts?!?!?!?!?! SMH!

Kidz In The Hall – Flickin’

flickinartnorthamerica-450x450

I’m only posting this track because it’s not available to purchase in the UK yet, I thought the days of us getting music/games/movies ages after the US were over but apparently not, I’ll remove this download link as soon as its on the UK iTunes store or the RIAA complain again, anyway, rant over LOL.

This track is severely dope, Naledge bringing the sick rhymes as usual and Double O tries something different with this beat and it sound incredible. Some very refreshing Hip Hop from the Chi-Town duo.

Artist Profile: Kooley High

This is the start of many artist profiles. In these I’ll just be giving you the heads up on Hip Hop artists that are set to do big things in the next few months/years.

The first artist profile is about an upcoming group from North Carolina called Kooley High.

Kooley High consists of three MC’s; Charlie Smarts, Tab-One & Rapsody, producers Foolery & The Sinopsis and the DJ; DJ Ill Digitz.

Kooley_high

They released an 8 track EP called The Summer Sessions in early 2008 to critical acclaim. The EP is filled with incredible soul sample filled production and even better rhymes, the EP(with guest production by 9th Wonder) showcases what this group is all about; fun filled but serious Hip Hop. These guys wouldn’t look out of place if you took them out of 2009 and placed them in 1993; surrounded by A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and The Pharcyde, they would easily hold their own ands show their diversity.

The track from Summer Sessions EP that really emphasizes their skill as rappers and producers is Too Late….

Albums:

Their first full length as a collective is due out in 2010 but in 2009, the MC’s have a number of solo projects in the works

Tab-One has Tabloids coming out.

Rapsody has Prelude to the Return OF THE B-Girl coming out on 9th Wonders record label.

Mixtapes:

They have only released 2 mixtapes so far:

2008’s Raleigh's Finest

2009’s Kooley Is High

Charlie Smarts also released his solo mixtape recently called F’Alex

Click on the links to download the mixtapes.

R.I.P. Baatin

J Dilla, Baatin, T3 By Mpozi Details are scarce at the moment, all everyone knows is that he died today, I shall post an update once more information has leaked.

Now I’m not going to claim that I’m a fan of Slum Village, I know very little about this group and the Detroit Hip Hop scene as a whole. All I know is that Hip Hop as a culture and a genre has suffered great loss over the years and Baatin can sadly be added to the long list(that also includes ex-Slum Village producer/MC J Dilla, ) If your a fan of Slum Village keep bumping their music and keep supporting underground Hip Hop, if your not, go out and get some Slum Village and enjoy listening to some good music. I’m in the latter and shall be blazing their back catalogue on my iPod tommorow.

Its good to learn about artists new and old but its depressing that I should get into their music under such sad circumstances.

Drake Collapses Onstage

Damn!

Drake really needs to slow his pace and concentrate on getting better, I don’t know much about ACL injuries but from what I can gather, if it gets any worse he may never walk again. Based on the hype surrounding Drake at the moment I think the industry will wait while he gets better.

Jay-Z Live At All Points West

This is The Jigga Man performing The Beastie Boys classic “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” Live at All Points West.

You’ve got to hand it to Jay, he does cover versions very well.

Ja-Rule – The Mirror(Album)

1220301499_3512118x

I’m only posting this for the Ja-Rule fans out there(all five of you).

This is an open post to Mr. Jeffrey Atkins, no body cares about you!!!

After numerous delays and the inevitable leak, this album was shelved indefinitely. You’ve got to remember, this album was meant to come out in 2007. Well Ja decided enough was enough and teamed up with DoeDolla to officially release the album online today, for free. I’ve included the download link below but I don’t condone listening to hot garbage let alone infecting your iPods with it.

Eminem & Mariah Carey – A History Of Beef

Since Eminem released a brutal diss track targeting Nick Cannon and his wifey I thought I’d chronicle how this unusual beef started.

It all started when, after a few years of hostility between Em and Mariah after their alleged 11 month relationship in 2001, a track surfaced that appeared on Eminem’s latest album Relapse called Bagpipes From Baghdad which had a few lines taking shots at Mariah….

…..which caused Nick Cannon to write a heeeeyuuuge rant on his blog saying how he’s gonna destroy Eminem and goes on to call him a racist, the blog post culminates in Nick promising he’s, God forbid, gonna start rapping again.

After that all was quiet for about a month until Mariah released the video for Obsessed where she mocks Eminem and takes a few shots at him herself…

…then all was quiet again as the Hip Hop world waited on Eminems response and finally, a month after Obsessed dropped, Eminem released The Warning which absolutely tears Mariah and Nick apart. Its not very difficult to say who won this one, Eminem murdered this, this isn’t Nas vs. Jay, this is an incredible MC against an incredibly easy target showing the world why he is one of the best to ever do it.
